Kallos Gallery artefacts at Cheney School

This week at the classics centre, we were excited to welcome Paul O'Mahony, from the Kallos Gallery in London, who brought some of their beautiful ancient artefacts into the school! He delivered a presentation to GCSE Latinists and AS Class Civers on ancient art, while showing some fascinating items around which the students were able to handle carefully with gloves. One of these items was an exquisitely produced bronze horse, which would have been buried as a votive offering in an aristocrat's grave. He also brought a Persian gold coin from the first known batch to have ever been minted!

The students enjoyed handling the items and hearing about where they had been made and how they had been used.

We are really grateful to Paul for the brilliant presentations and handling sessions, which were greatly enjoyed.
