Odyssey Competition for Schools

We are delighted to announce a competition in the run up to our Odyssey days this summer at the classics centre at Cheney! To celebrate the stories of Homer and their inspiration for writers, artists and thinkers throughout the ages, we are asking entrants to submit one of the following:

1. a short story or poem inspired by the Odyssey

2. a new book cover design for the Odyssey

3. a constructed artefact which features in the Odyssey

We are honoured that Emily Hauser, author of "For the Most Beautiful", which explores the story of the Trojan War from a new perspective, will be on our judging panel.  The deadline for entries is May 31st, 2016, and prize winners will be contacted and announced on our Odyssey days on 30th June and 1st July. Entries will be split into three age categories to be judged - under 12s, under 16s and under 18s. There will be prizes awarded for each category.

Entries can be emailed to info@irisproject.org.uk with "Odyssey competition" in the subject line, or delivered by post or in person to:

Classics Centre, Cheney School, Cheney Lane, Oxford, OX3 7QH

Please be sure to include your full name, age, and contact details with the entries.

If you have any questions, please get in touch with us. Good luck to everyone!
